Our Amazing Divisoria Experience

After almost 10 years since my last trip to Divisoria, we went back last Saturday to buy the tela for our entourage. It was just as crowded and noisy as the Divisoria I remembered when we used to buy fruits (by the box) before our Christmas break around 1st year college...but of course, without the 168 mall hahaha.

We went there with my close friend from the dorm (back when I was taking my Masters and teaching in UP) who selflessly offered to accompany us even if she felt she was going down with the flu the night before. Bilis na lang pala ng byahe from Buendia to Divisoria.

The first thing I noticed was the Fire station located within Divi. Hehehe....

Our first stop, looking for Tabora St. where the fabric stores are. At ang hirap nyang hanapin hahaha! The first manang we asked told us to turn right there (as in there, sabay turo sa kung saan man yun!)...so we just walked and turned right at the first corner. The second manang then pointed us to the direction from where we came! So we asked a manong...and he told us to go straight, turn right, etc. And finally, we found it!

Rhoda and Lawrence told us that Shantung would cost around P100/yard sa Divisoria, so I was expecting that amount. But in the first stall that we saw, sabi P95/yard daw *hmm* syempre nasa Divi ka, so mega tawad. "Ano po last price?" So we decided to look around first. The next shop we asked...P85/yard daw! *Uy bumaba!* so we haggled and she agreed to sell it for P75/yard kaso napansin ni Albert iba daw ung kulay...waaahh!!! At iba nga :( so we had to look around some more...finally, we came upon the third (and last) shop and that's when we found the right color, and the price was also P75/yard. We tried to haggle again pero ayaw na talaga. *sige na nga!* So that's when I got my heavy shantung, light aqua blue tela for my entourage..

I wanted to look for a child's dress (na ung mejo maarte nang unti) for our flower girls. Ang mahal kasing magpagawa e sandali lang naman nilang maisusuot yun (you know with kids, they grow up so fast!)...nasuyod namin ang 168 mall pero hindi kami nakakita ng Sunday dress :( *and now I realize while I'm typing this, that we should have gone to other streets in Divi, I'm sure there would be one street there selling all children's clothes. hmp, next time*

What I bought in 168 mall though were earrings, lots and lots of earrings! hehe..I plan to give them to my entourage, syempre aquamarine ung kulay hehe. Nakakatuwa!

Here are the earrings I bought....

I had a great time in Divi kahit nakakapagod at umaambon-ambon pa...Albert and I plan to go back one of these weekends again...para lang maglibot at maghanap pa ng pwedeng bilhin (think Sunday dress and party poppers) for the wedding preps. Si Albert ung DVD ata ang habol...basta ako masaya at may tela na for the entourage :)

On another note, the other Saturday we went to Glorietta to check out QP Designs since I read from a W@wie post that they have invitations that cost less than P50 each *hmm pasok sa budget*
Nung andun na kami, una kong nakita muna ung Papemelroti shop! OMG, there's something about bookstores/office supplies shops that just makes me want to go inside, look at all the papers and stuff they sell. And Papemelroti is one of these shops, parang gusto kong bilhin lahat! Hahaha! As in, she can't possibly leave Papemelroti without buying something hahaha)
Anyway, we asked about their invitations and we saw their samples...ok yung designs and cheap lang din sya (pasok sa budget). Tapos ang tagal ko pang naglibot dun sa shop until finally we went to QP. Kakatuwa, meron ngang mga invitations na less than P50...but of course, these were very simple lang - pero take note, yung letters yung parang thermographed (yung parang embossed na hehe hirap i-describe). E si Albert, gusto ng ganun :) sa akin naman, budget talaga yung habol (but of course kelangan namang di gusgusin) kasi naman yung invitation, most of the guests wouldn't keep it naman. Hirap nang pinaggastusan mo, tapos itatapon lang ng ibang tao kaya for me, I would opt for the cheaper ones (without sacrificing the quality of course! just need to get the right balance)...
But we didn't book yet since Albert said that we should look for other suppliers muna. Baka naman daw kasi merong mas maganda for the same price...sana lang wag sa kasuluk-sulukan ng mundo yung location ng shop nila hahaha!

I guess that would be all for now...haba din pala ng kwento ko hahaha....

Ms. Christina quote me 3K + for 200 2page invites. Ok na di ba? Unique pa hehehe! Bibili lang kami sa QP Designs sa Quiapo ng Turquoise na envelope which cost 5 pesos a pc daw. Kasi di ba brown paper yung envelope nung invites :) Para may konting touch of our motiff naman.
